Conway Cleveland Biltmore Stick - English | 55S
Helps figure the number of 16' logs in a tree and their diameters.
Biltmore Stick's are used to determine the number of logs in a tree, as well as diameter, board footage in standing trees and to scale saw logs. This Biltmore Stick made by Conway Cleveland is graduated 0 to 37”, by consecutive inches, 1/2” subdivisions. Biltmore Stick measures diameter 6” to 74” by 2” diameter classes and can measure up to nine 16’ logs. Scale logs from 6” to 37” diameter using Decimal C scale (board foot) value for 16’ logs. Overall this Biltmore Stick has a 25” reach (hold stick 25” from your eye to measure).
Manufactured from hard maple, Conway Cleveland's Biltmore stick features a one piece head with lightweight hardened stainless steel with pre-ben sharpened points for grabbing and flipping lumber. A brass ferrule on each end, one with a hole for a carrying thong, will never rest and the points maintain sharpness. Large, clear black graduations are easy to read and are coated with a polyurethane plastic coating.
Measuring tree diameter with the 25" reach Biltmore Stick:
Hold the Biltmore Stick horizontally against the tree at 4-1/2' above ground level and 25" away from your eye. Using the 25" Biltmore stick scale, with your head held motionless, line up the left end of the rule with the edge of the tree, and with the same eye, sight the other edge of the tree. This sight line crosses the future on the scale indicating the tree's diameter in inches. Note this diameter.
