Crackshot PUNCTURE TESTING
In the absence of an industry wide standard for testing “snake proof” products for resistance to puncture, Crackshot Corporation chose to test Snake Guardz™, Snake Chapz™, Shin Guardz™ and Sting Ray Guardz™ to ASTM International standards. ASTM stands for American Society for Testing and Materials and was established in 1898. They are now known as ASTM International. ASTM International was founded by engineers and academia to set standards for testing and materials. Membership is voluntary and the standards are recognized worldwide.
ASTM Designation F 1342-05 is the Standard Test Method for Protective Clothing Material Resistance to Puncture. The apparatus, test specimens, procedure, significance and reporting are all described in detail within the specification. The procedure requires measurement of the maximum load to penetrate the specimens to the nearest 50g (0.1 lb.). This testing is routinely conducted on products manufactured by Crackshot Corporation and there has been NO PUNCTURE.
Tom Hargrove, President of Crackshot Corporation, has personally worn the Snake Guardz™ in the “rattlesnake pits” at various hunting shows and rattlesnake roundups demonstrating the effectiveness of the Snake Guardz™. He has been struck hundreds of times by rattlesnakes from three to six feet long and this has been documented with video and pictures. No penetration has occurred. This can also be attested to by the thousands of pairs which are worn worldwide by hunters, campers and active outdoor enthusiasts. Additionally, Crackshot Corporation products are used as part of PPE Safety requirements in many industries such as: Oil and Gas, Utilities, Construction, Land Surveyors, Search & Rescue and the United States Border Patrol and many others on a daily basis for years – with NO penetration! Each product carries $1,000,000.00 in product liability insurance.
