The newly engineered forged tool steel head features a larger, chamfered poll for improved balance and a larger striking surface that minimizes damage when driving HDPE plastic felling wedges. A wedge-shaped blade with convex bevels provides excellent cutting performance while reducing sticking during splitting. Crafted in the USA, this axe is fitted with a premium 28-inch straight American hickory handle. • Heat-treated cutting edge hardened to Council Tool's internal specification of Rc 48–55, extending approximately 1¼" back from the edge for long-lasting durability
• Poll and eye walls remain unhardened in the as-forged condition for strength and impact resistance
• Red enamel-coated head with a clear lacquer-coated cutting edge to help prevent rust
• 28" straight American hickory handle dried to below 10% moisture content to minimize shrinkage and help maintain a secure fit
• Hydraulically seated axe head secured with a serrated aluminum wedge for superior holding power and moisture resistance
